5 top strategies to slay Black Friday in your salon
It’s nearly that time of year again folks—when the bustle begins its bustling and if you’re looking to hustle, you better start hustling! That's right, the holiday season is right around the corner. We've got our sights set on the unofficial kick off of the season: Black Friday and Small Business Saturday.
If you haven’t started preparing for this mega-shopping weekend, don’t worry. We have 5 surefire strategies for making sure that your salon kicks off the season with a bang.
Strategy #1. Get Social (early)
One of the best ways to know what kinds of holiday deals your guests are looking for is just to ask them. One great way to do so is to strike up a conversation on social media. Take a break from posting your latest looks for a day or two and try getting the discussion going instead.
On Instagram: Create an eye-catching graphic or short video asking your clients what deals they would be most excited to see this holiday season.
On Tik Tok: Create a short video either asking guests directly, or something a bit more entertaining like a faux-unboxing video. No matter which direction you choose to go, be sure to ask your audience directly to comment on the deals they’d like to see in the salon.
On Facebook: Typing questions into Facebook’s Text box and selecting a cute background will go a long way to getting responses. People gravitate towards these simple, straightforward asks. It’s not a bad idea to post in your local “What’s happening” group too, for additional feedback.
Strategy #2. Offer a unique deal (a BIG one)
Just about every retailer is going to be offering a post-thanksgiving offer of some kind. Make your salon stand out by offering something truly unique. Maybe that’s a free post-shopping blow out with purchase of 3 or more holiday kits or Buy 2 Trios or 3 Duos and get a free Mini? Get creative and think of things that only YOUR salon can offer.
Strategy #3. Build your Email list
Most retailers think of Black Friday and Small Business Saturday as a way to fuel sales, but what you may not think about is how you can leverage your deals to fuel your future sales.
Hear us out.
You can build anticipation (and your email list) by getting people to sign up for your salon newsletter in order to learn about the deals first. You could even create a special “before it’s released” shopping event for subscribers if you wanted to. Not only will this create an air of excitement around your sale, but it gives you valuable contact info for potential future guests.
Strategy #4. Create an Incentive
Another great way to leverage your Black Friday/Small Business Saturday traffic is to reward shoppers with something that they can use in the future. Think Old Navy’s Super Cash program. If guests spend up to $100 on Holiday items, they can earn a $20 gift card to use in the salon at a later date. This can help grow holiday sales into year-round clients.
Strategy #5. Stock up!
This may sound like a no-brainer but be sure to stock up on all of your holiday sale items. The last thing that you want is to have done all of the work to create an incredible sale and then to run out of things to sell.
